New Content Item
One of the newest Springer eBook offerings is the German-language eBook package 'Education and Social Work'. Springer Social Sciences and Humanities Editorial Director, Andreas Beierwaltes, shares the ins and outs of this new package, and what librarians can expect.

Andreas, can you share a bit on your background and responsibilities at ¹ú²úÂÒÂ×?

I’ve been working for Springer for about seven years and have been responsible for Springer VS as Editorial Director for 4 years. I have been responsible for Metzler since 2017 and am therefore responsible for the entire German-language social sciences and the humanities program.

What inspired the conception of this new German-language education eBook package?

I think that the fields of education and social work play a special part at universities. Furthermore, social work is also taught at universities for applied sciences. With this new and concentrated package, we are in a position to make a good offer to smaller libraries, thus ensuring an even better distribution of content.

Can you describe the various subjects this package will cover?

The package will cover a wide range of topics in educational science, including lifelong learning / adult education, organizational pedagogy, learning and teaching, and amongst others. In the area of Social Work, the focus will be on child and youth welfare, counseling and support, and socio-economic topics.

How many titles are expected to be published in 2019?

In 2019, we expect to publish approximately 130 titles in this new package.

What kind of ebooks can librarians expect in this package?

Springer VS is known for its excellent handbooks and textbooks, and will be included in the new package. Monographs will also be included and thus optimally reflect the state of current research.
